Camp
Craig Allen starts FIRST Camp Session June 2011!
Keep
in mind; we are just three months away from our major
& most important fundraiser yet, our 5th annual BBQ
in September. But before the barbeque pits roll into
Bass Pro Shop this time, we will be going to camp!
The vision
has always been to build a complete barrier free and
wheelchair accessible camp with no age limit for all
levels of our physically disabled friends. It started
with Craig's dream and it has been feverishly worked
on since Camp Craig Allen formed officially in 2007
as a 501c3 organization. And now, we can finally say-
WE ARE STARTING CAMP PROGRAMS!
On June
24, 2011 in Anna, Texas, Camp Craig Allen will hold
its very first camp session appropriately named "Camp
Reunion". This session will serve the first set of overlooked
physically disabled campers, those with Muscular Dystrophy,
and will be specifically for adults over the age of
18.
We have
temporarily leased a fully operational, 428 acre camp
facility to get started. This means that we will be
able to begin programs which will include recreational,
therapeutic and educational activities. We will modify
and adapt every session we hold for each camper and
group we create programs for.
Our mission
includes faith, love, advocacy and most of all HOPE
to all the campers and their families that live day
to day with a physical disability. We strive to give
disabled people the programs they need and let them
know- they are not forgotten, regardless of age or the
physical impairment!
Invitations
will be sent to adult campers to attend customized sessions
for Muscular Dystrophy, MS, Parkinson's, Spina Bifida
and newly injured Spinal Cord injured folks for our
starting summer camp sessions. Family camps and even
more specialized groups over the fall and into winter,
so make sure you are receiving our newsletter.
Volunteer
forms can be located in our Form section, and we hope
you’ll want to help in the many areas of need.
We still
are preparing for our biggest BBQ yet, and we still
have big goals to take us into construction of our own
facility, but this is a huge step for Camp Craig Allen.
Please continue to support, pray and be a part of Camp
Craig Allen from the ground up!
For our
disabled friends, we have told you from the beginning-
You’re going to camp, so pack a swim suit in a bag and
we'll see you soon!
